before you call it pathetic, i am on spring break from college. I am really good friends with the girl, while were at college we hangout and party together.... i just reall feel like i need to write her like a note to tell her how i feel and how i dont want to lose her as a friend if we ever went out together....should i just do it this way? its really the only way to reach her while i am home on break

Can you call her? Speaking with her in person is the best option, but if that's impossible, then call or write a letter.
If you absolutely cannot wait until you get back from Spring Break, write her a letter. Not an email, not a text, not through facebook- a letter. On nice paper, in pen, neatly... make it romantic.
Just say what you said in your question- that you think she's an awesome friend, etc.
Just be yourself and take it easy.. take some time to think about how you really want to tell her.
