I was lucklily accepted into Stanford but when I visited the campus, there wasn't many fun things to do. I had just gone to MIT's campus preview weekend and they had so many fun things going on it was mindblowing. At Stanford though, it was like party or play foosball, pingpong, billiard pool or piano. My idea of fun isn't going to party's to dance to c-rap music (although I would dance to techno).
I've seen some newsletters and someone said that the three options for Fun at Stanford are Frats, Facebook, and Fuc#ing. The first two aren't that interesting and I'm Catholic so I won't enjoy the third one 'til I'm married.
They have a bunch of clubs which is cool, but I'm looking for something a bit less structured.
I guess my idea of fun is going hang gliding, playing video games on a HUGE projector screen, and pranking UC Berkeley, but a sad reality is that I have no idea what i find fun because I've been studying so much that I don't know what I find fun anymore. So, any ideas?
How can I have fun in College.?
realize one thing: college campuses are businesses too. they like to promote themselves as best they can. so MIT's preview weekend had a lot of stuff going on...they're smart. but that campus is not going to be that great 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
basically you have fun at college with the friends you make. you said you like hang gliding... so take a few of the new people you meet and go one weekend. in college you learn to make the best of what's around you.
i'm involved in the greek life at my school, and i love it. but it's not for everyone. and stanford is a decent size, trust me you will find plenty of people interested in the same things you are. and maybe you will meet some other interesting people along the way.
don't sweat it. you will have fun in college, no matter what school you go to. you've just gotta go in with an open mind.
you dont know what you find fun anymore? take a breather. you will study your butt off at stanford, but remember to take some time out and be human for a hot second. that's when the fun begins. let loose a little.
there are gonna be plenty of parties, plenty of people, and plenty of pranks you can pull on your roomies and other kids in your dorm. start off small - like going in a friends room and putting 600 plastic cups full of water all over the floor while they aren't there, so if he/she knocks one over they all go down. and facebook will get interesting to you, TRUST ME haha.
Reply:Was you really so disappointed with Stanford? I think only Internet reality can help you, since your classmates are so boring.
Reply:Depends on what you like to do. I wouldn't compare fun activities based on one week staged to lure you to that school.
Try to take advantage of things not available when you get out of college. Intramural sports, study abroad, all of these things can be really fun and allow you to experience things you may not know you like.
Reply:Go out and get you a prostitute
Reply:Um, if you thought MIT was fun and didn't like Stanford, just go to MIT. It's better anyway. :) I had plenty of fun there!
Reply:I guess it all depends on your perspective and attitude. If you set out with the ideea that it's gonna suck you will most likely be spending all of your free time complaining that you have nothing to do. My advice to you is experiment! You are bound to make new friends as you get there. Try to experiment new things (not necessarily sex), things that they find as being fun and try to make them experiment what you think to be fun. This way you will enlarge your horizon and find new ways to have fun. If not, you will at least have had fun while trying.
Enjoy college!
