What if I DON'T include all of my academic institutions on a college application?

Sure, I know that "falsification, misrepresentation, or omission of information on this application or my credentials, may result in the denial or revocation of admission and, if enrolled, will result in disciplinary action including dismissal from the college"...but whatever.

With the thousands of colleges and universities just in the U.S., there's no way that anyone can find out if I went somewhere if I don't mention it. And no, I don't have a MySpace, Facebook, Classmates.com, Reunion.com, etc. site that will show me up.

So, what's the harm in going for it? If schools REALLY had a way of finding out, they wouldn't make such a fuss about includeing ALL institutions, now would they?

Me thinks the colleges doth protest too much!

You have a point. But on the off-chance they do find out and revoke your admission, won't you feel stupid?
Reply:There is a database they check; if you show up as ever having been enrolled at another college and not mentioning it, you won't get in. They make a fuss because they want YOU to put the application together, not to have to chase all the information down themselves.
Reply:There ARE ways for them to find out, admissions departments DO check on this stuff.

There is a national database that schools enter your past degrees and transcripts into. This was designed for employers, and schools, to verify what the school and what you tell them is true or not.
